A bio plastic fashion collection that responds to the 90 million tons of textile waste generated globally every year, clothing waste that will never decompose in our lifetime. This set of garments — made with materials like gelatin, glycerol, turmeric, and spirulina — is designed to be worn minimally, for occasions like photo shoots and red carpet events, so they may return safely to the earth (and even feed the earth!) when they are no longer wanted or needed any more. The collection was deeply inspired by the plastic inflatable furniture of my 1990’s childhood and a goal to make bio fashion bright, vibrant, and youthful. Each textile was handcrafted with natural dyes before being designed and cut by a laser cutter to create each piece. The pieces are designed to be modular and shape shift to fit multiple body types.
