The Periodical
The Periodical is a customizable subscription service designed to transform the way we experience menstruation—making it holistic, celebratory, and inclusive of all people with periods. It promotes safer products for our bodies and the planet, featuring non-gendered design and packaging that stand apart from conventional options.
Unlike what’s found in most pharmacies, The Periodical offers free samples of thoughtfully curated, body-safe products each month. Developed as my Master’s thesis at NYU’s ITP program, the project synthesized months of user research into a cohesive experience that included elegant packaging design and a companion mobile app. The final work was presented at ITP Thesis Week in May 2017.
How it Works
Each month, our users receive a gift box with their preferred period supplies, other comforting remedies, as well as information about and samples of alternative, sustainable period wellness products.
Each gift box includes a new alternative and sustainable period product, healthier for your body and the planet. All packaging is 100% recyclable.

With The Periodical app, users can set their period supply preferences and have them delivered monthly—right on time.
