Queerencia: Queer Icons Draw Filter & Photobooth
In December 2024, we partnered with the University of New Mexico and Moving Arts to create an interactive augmented reality photobooth app that invited guests to contribute their own collages and portraits. Developed in collaboration with Mayowa Tomori and featuring artwork by Gabriel García Román, the project became a living archive of queer expression and creativity.
This work was the next iteration of Queer Icon’s Filter (2019), the world’s first Instagram filter for Queer and Trans People of Color. Built using Lens Studio for Snapchat, my role focused on designing a custom draw filter and developing a clothing-mapping activation, expanding how users could playfully engage with the work.
You can play with the SnapChat filter here.
Analytics: 40K lifetime views on Snap Lens (not bad for a lens designed for ~20 queer youth in New Mexico).
