Waste, But Make it Fashion

Waste, But Make it Fashion is a series of experimental garments that reimagine items destined for the trash. Materials like KN95 masks, circuit boards, and plastic CD sleeves are often viewed as disposable, obsolete, or worthless once their initial purpose is fulfilled. This project asks: what if we had to wear what we consume? By transforming discarded matter into fashion, it exposes the excess built into our everyday lives while inviting new possibilities for beauty, utility, and care in what we choose to keep.

Hot Mask Summer (2021)

Hot Mask Summer is a fashion art piece featuring garments made of used KN95 and medical face masks. A play on rapper Megan Thee Stallion's song "Hot Girl Summer" and the frenzy of many in the U.S. to return to a sense of normalcy and fun during the second summer of the Covid-19 global pandemic, this piece explores sexiness, safety, pleasure, disposability, and waste as it relates to our current reality.
